What is it?
Learn n Burn is an entire program built around helping women regain confidence as they regain their health. It is more than just a weight loss class. Yes, losing weight is a part of it, but at Learn n Burn you will come away with skills to maintain your weight loss long-term. We discuss behavior modification, habit change, goal setting, mindset, emotional eating, hormones, and of course moving and nutrition. The goal of Learn n Burn is to guide you to the answers and techniques that work for you, your body, and your lifestyle…and to have you feel confident about your choices. The other women in class with you can relate–they are working on changing their health, too. It’s a built-in support system, in a comfortable environment, with others who are in the midst of the same challenges.
Finally, I’ve been there! I used to weigh over 200 pounds and worked very hard to get to a healthy weight and change my life. You want someone in your corner who understands the mental and emotional piece of being overweight, and how to overcome it. I am real and relatable and I can help you…and I still eat cookies! 🙂
How often is the class?
Learn n Burn meets three mornings per week (M/W/F). On Monday and Friday we meet for a 45 minute workout. On Wednesday we meet for an hour, which will include both a 30 minute workout and 30 minute discussion.
What type of workout do you do?
Most of the workouts are HIIT style (high intensity interval training) which means we will do short bursts of very intense work with rests in between. Weights are incorporated to build muscle quicker and help fire up that metabolism to get you losing weight. We will use a variety of equipment as well–resistance bands, steps, BOSU Balance Trainers, TRX, medicine balls, and kettlebells to name a few.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring dumbbells with you, a water bottle, and probably a mat (optional, but helpful). Upon registering for the class, I will contact you to go through some medical history information and we can also discuss appropriate weight dumbbells at that time.
When, where, and cost?
Class is held M/W/F mornings from 6:00 – 6:45 am (Wed class is 6:00 – 7:00am, 30 min workout+30 min discussion ) at Joy In Yoga studio, 5419 Monona Drive, Monona, WI 53716.

Class size is limited to ten. With a class this size you will get a great combination of perspectives, ideas, and support from the other women and still get the personalized attention you need from me, your trainer.
I coordinate group activities outside of our regular mornings together (some at a small additional cost). I have prepared a meal for the group, we’ve walked a 5k charity race, and met with a dietician for a grocery store tour. As the seasons change, our activities will change. The intention is to introduce you to different activities and to foster new friendships and support from the ladies you meet at class.
